Pengelolaan Sampah Berbasis Komunitas: Sebuah Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Dari Kampung Darling

Abstract

Community-based waste management is a community empowerment where people are equipped with the knowledge and skills to manage the waste they generate. The residents of Kampung Darling engage in community-based waste management by establishing the Darling Waste Bank. This study aims to examine the community empowerment process in community-based waste management in Kampung Darling. The research was conducted using a qualitative research approach with descriptive analysis through observation and in-depth interviews with waste bank managers and customers. The research data were analyzed through the stages of data organization, data processing, data interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that community-based waste management at the Darling Waste Bank have implemented three community empowerment processes: awareness-raising, capacity building, and empowerment. Community-based waste management activities at the Darling Waste Bank successfully reduced anorganic waste by 42.3 tons throughout 2024. The challenge of community empowerment at the Darling Waste Bank lies in the empowerment process, where the marketing of recycled products is not yet optimal. The Darling Waste Bank needs to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to execute a branding strategy in the form of storytelling-based marketing for the recycled products produced. Storytelling-based marketing is crucial, given that recycled products possess a strong emotional advantage in touching consumers' hearts.
