Introduction
ThufuLA: Jurnal Inovasi Pendidikan Guru Raudhatul Athfal upholds a rigorous anti-plagiarism policy to protect the integrity and originality of all published scholarly content. The journal is firmly committed to publishing original research in early childhood education in line with the highest standards of academic and publication ethics. This policy sets out the journal’s position on plagiarism, the methods used to detect it, and the procedures followed when it is identified. By submitting a manuscript, authors affirm that their work is original and free from any form of plagiarism.
Definition
Plagiarism is the unauthorized use or presentation of another person’s ideas, language, data, or creative work without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, phrases, or substantial content verbatim without quotation marks and appropriate citation.
- Closely paraphrasing another person’s work without sufficient acknowledgment.
- Reproducing figures, tables, datasets, research instruments, learning media, or findings from other sources without proper attribution or permission.
- Presenting existing concepts, interpretations, or theories as the author’s own original contribution.
- Self-plagiarism, that is, republishing significant portions of previously published work, including theses or dissertations, without clear citation or justification.
Plagiarism in any form is a serious violation of scholarly ethics and is strictly prohibited. Authors are expected to credit the intellectual contributions of others appropriately in all submitted work.
Policy Guidelines
- Plagiarism Screening. All submitted manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening before peer review.
- Detection Tool. The journal uses Turnitin, a widely recognized plagiarism detection system, to assess textual similarity.
- Similarity Threshold. Manuscripts with an overall similarity score above 20%, or above 3% from a single source, will undergo further editorial scrutiny and may be returned to the authors for revision. Similarity scores are interpreted with discretion and attention to context.
- Exclusions from Analysis. The detection tool is set to exclude bibliographies, correctly quoted material (in quotation marks and properly cited), and small matches.
- AI-Generated Content. Manuscripts may also be checked for AI-generated text. Detection results are used to prompt editorial review and clarification from the authors, not as the sole basis for rejection.
- Consequences of Plagiarism.
- Before publication: If plagiarism is identified before publication, the manuscript will be rejected. The corresponding author will be notified, and in cases of significant or deliberate plagiarism, the authors’ institutions may also be informed.
- After publication: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal will begin a formal investigation. If it is confirmed, the article will be retracted, a retraction notice will be published, and the authors’ institutions will be notified.
The journal reserves the right to take additional measures depending on the nature and extent of the violation.
Implementation Procedures
- Initial Screening. After submission, the editorial office runs a Turnitin check to generate a similarity report.
- Evaluation Process. Editors review each report carefully. A high similarity score does not automatically indicate plagiarism, so editors determine whether flagged content reflects ethical concerns or acceptable academic conventions, such as standard methodological phrasing or correctly cited excerpts.
- Authorial Accountability. Authors are fully responsible for the originality of their submissions and for properly citing all referenced material. Permission must be obtained for any copyrighted content used in the manuscript.
- Handling Allegations. Suspected plagiarism is investigated following ethical protocols and COPE guidance. Authors will be given the opportunity to respond to any allegation.
- Transparency and Communication. The journal is committed to transparency in its plagiarism detection and resolution procedures. Authors are encouraged to contact the editorial office with any questions about the process.
- Ongoing Policy Review. This policy and its procedures are reviewed and refined regularly to keep pace with evolving standards in academic publishing.
